Rebekka Homann (*1999, Hamburg) is a visual artist based in Berlin and London. She graduated with an MFA from the Slade School of Fine Art in June 2025 after previously studying at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts and the Academie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles. Throughout her studies, she was a scholarship holder of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (2020-2025), the German Academic Exchange Service (2023-2025) and the Leonora Carrington Scholarship (Slade School of Fine Art, 2023-2025). Rebekka was awarded the Boise Travel Grant (Slade School of Fine Art) in Summer 2025.

Rebekka’s work is ruled by force and its ambiguity, both in its physical sense and applied to human relations: Force we subject others and are ourselves subjected to. Sculpture becomes a way to materialize these tensions and give them physical form. Interpersonal debt, obligations, economic conditions and interdependence manifest in the merging of industrial objects with support structures as well as elements from horseriding gear. Emerging from personal narrative and exercised in sculpture and animated video, the horse as “Beast of Burden” becomes a symbolic body between need, use and care. Present in all of Rebekka’s work are the complexity and social implication of labour – out of necessity, compulsion or as an act of love.
